The Oniris Plus advantages
The refined generation of the clinically validated Oniris platform.
Splittable posterior extensions
Optimal dental coverage while reducing the occurrence of joint discomfort.
Strengthened connectors
Engineered for durability, including for individuals with bruxism, with increased titration capacity from –4 to 11 mm.
Precise dental coverage
A customized impression for greater comfort, stability and long-term adherence.
The first thermoplastic MAD non-inferior to custom-made devices
The IRIS study, the largest randomized controlled trial in the field of mandibular advancement devices, demonstrated the non-inferiority of the Oniris platform versus a custom-made device on effectiveness, compliance and tolerance. The results were published in Thorax (2019) and selected as Editor’s Choice.
How it works
The patented design of the Oniris MAD allows the lower jaw to move forward, releasing the passage of air through the oropharynx and preventing the obstruction that causes snoring and sleep apnea.
Its patented articulation and propulsion system provides complete freedom of movement, enhancing long-term comfort and adherence to the treatment.

Clinical FAQ
Frequently asked questions for sleep physicians and dental sleep professionals.
About the device
What is Oniris Plus?
Oniris Plus is a heat-moulded mandibular advancement device (MAD) for the treatment of snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It is fitted chairside in about 15 minutes – no impressions and no laboratory step – and is titratable to adjust mandibular advancement to each patient.
Is it FDA cleared?
Yes. Oniris is FDA 510(k) cleared and indicated for snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It is available in the United States through established distributors and pharmacies.
How is it different from an over-the-counter device?
Unlike drugstore boil-and-bite products, Oniris is a titratable medical device prescribed and followed within a clinical pathway, and its platform is supported by published clinical evidence – including a randomized controlled trial.
Clinical evidence
What clinical data supports Oniris?
The Oniris platform was evaluated in the IRIS randomized controlled trial ( Thorax , 2019; n=198), which compared the heat-moulded device to a custom-made device and demonstrated non-inferiority on treatment response. This places Oniris among the few oral appliances supported by randomized controlled evidence rather than observational data alone.
What were the main results?
In the trial, the heat-moulded device showed a responder rate comparable to the custom device, with a meaningful reduction in the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and improvements in snoring and daytime sleepiness. Secondary endpoints showed no significant difference between the two devices.
Where does it fit in the treatment pathway?
Consistent with AASM/AADSM guidance, oral appliances are an option for patients with mild-to-moderate OSA, and for those who are intolerant of or decline CPAP. Oniris Plus is positioned as a complement to custom devices – a clinically validated option that can be offered chairside, including to patients for whom a custom appliance is not the right first step.
Practical questions
How is it fitted?
The device is heat-moulded directly onto the patient’s dental arches in a single chairside session of about 15 minutes. Advancement is then titrated over the following weeks according to efficacy and comfort, with follow-up by the treating physician.
What are the possible side effects?
As with any mandibular advancement device, patients may experience transient effects in the early weeks, such as oral crowding, mild dental or jaw discomfort, or increased salivation. These typically diminish with continued use. A dental and temporomandibular assessment is recommended before fitting.
What is the Oniris Plus generation?
Oniris Plus is the refined generation of the clinically validated Oniris platform, designed with reduced bulk, improved dental coverage, and connectors engineered for durability – building on the established design while improving comfort and fit.
